Hitting it Out of the Park
Dear Listener,
Welcome to episode 34. As an editor, in my "bread and butter" day job, I've come across a lot of juicy business jargon that I've taken great delight in "decommissioning". But what was to be done with all these baffling metaphors, many of which seem to have been "re-purposed" from the sportsfield to the boardroom?
Put them in a story of course ...
This is an episode dedicated to corporate daydreamers, opponents and proponents of boardroom bluster, meeting doodlers and anyone who has ever had to circle the waggons, eat their own dogfood or deploy blue-sky thinking - this is for you.
Here's the direct link for download, or you can listen using the embedded flash player at the top of the post.
The sound track is from "Waiting" by Benji Goodrich, which is such a lovely album that I recommend you go here to listen to all of it on Magnatune.
Enjoy the podcast, and try to stay awake in those meetings.
Sweet dreams,
Seymour

Hilarious. I've been listening to a couple of your stories every day since I stumbled across you in the podcast directory. First I listen at bedtime, and them the same stories agin while walking, so I can actually hear all of it. (You put me right to sleep!) This story is different and shows your great range of skill for so many syles. Making fun of office-speak is something I spend a lot of my day doing, but I'm never this funny.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Two of my friends listen to you now also.
Ha ha, Trillium. Thank you for listening and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. Sometimes I'm in quite a frivolous mood when I sit down to write. I'd planned to write a different story that has been in my head a while, but I wasn't really feeling it and this came out instead.
DeleteThanks for "enhancing listener acquisition" by "cascading" the info about these stories to your friends, I hope you don't drown in all that corporate jargon out there!
Great to hear from you.
Sweet dreams,
Seymour
I came across your podcast last year sometime, and your stories are so wonderfully imaginative! I usually listen to them as I'm falling asleep, and again sometime during the week because I'm always out before the end. I enjoy these so much; they leave you with something in the morning that isn't quite tangible.
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I'm just super happy to see that you're producing new podcasts, thank you!
Hi, -chels,
DeleteThanks for stopping by to comment and to let me know that you're enjoying the stories.
Keep listening, keep dreaming!
All the best,
Seymour
